It includes materials relating to S. D. Truitt's career as county extension agent from 1917 to 1966, his acceptance of the

the award) and items relating to the family's friendships with several prominent Georgia politicians. Also included is material
relating to Ray Henry Billings' career as a communications engineer for the Atlanta Police Department. The collection includes

The Richard B. Russell, Jr. Collection, Subgroup C, Series IV. Early Office reflects Russell's first years as a United States
senator and reveals him as a strong supporter of New Deal legislation. Some gubernatorial papers were transferred to Russell's
senate office and are found in this series. This series contains correspondence with some printed materials and is incomplete.
There are few files documenting Russell's office during the first eleven years, especially from 1938 to 1943, the main series
for this time period are Early Office, Political, Political Patronage, Personal, and a few files in General. Any additional
non-textual materials originally filed with papers were removed for preservation purposes and improved access. These materials
include photographs, audiovisual items, scrapbooks, vertical files, memorabilia, and books.
